What do you have to lose?

Did you know that you have the potential to tap into a very powerful, life changing force?  This force, however, is often ignored, undervalued and kept for emergencies.  We have an invitation given to each of us.  The invitation is to activate this force in the world we uniquely relate to.  When you can recognise the part you play in partnering to release this life altering power, you can see some pretty amazing shifts in the way life around you plays out.

Steve Jobs, the co-founder of the computing company Apple, had a famous quote.  ‘Your time is limited.  Don’t waste your time living someone else’s life.’  Although this inspirational quote is very true, it is not true for everything.  When it comes to prayer we can easily think that it is someone else’s job.  Each of us is unique- You know that.  We are not meant to be someone else or do someone else’s job, however, prayer is for you.  Prayer is one of the most beneficial activities we can engage in, and you have a personal role to play.  Although you may sometimes pray, we can at times hope that someone else is doing the praying for us.  But this is not how God intended prayer to be.  Prayer is God’s chosen way of releasing His will on the earth.  Jesus is our example.  His prayer strategy was one based in intimate solitude with His Father… Who happens to be our Father.

We are body, soul and spirit.  Prayer is a spirit exercise that partners with God to release his amazing will here on earth.  To walk in health and restoration is to allow your prayer life to be invigorated.

“Do not have your concert first, and then tune your instrument afterwards. Begin the day with the Word of God and prayer, and get first of all into harmony with Him.”

James Hudson Taylor

In Ephesians chapter 1 verses 15 – 22 we see Paul’s prayer for the Christians in Ephesus.  This prayer is a powerful encourager of what we have been given and gives us a platform for us to pray from.  Try praying the following over someone who is on your heart…

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

Ephesians 1:17-21

This Ephesians prayer is one of the most powerful prayers.  It is prayed from a place of thanksgiving, victory and a knowing our position in Christ.

Choose to make prayer your ‘job’.  Prayer is not, however, a ‘job’ it is a heart connection with your Father who loves you and loves conversation with you.  He also chooses to move on the wings of your prayers.  Release this powerful, life-changing force today!

What do you have to lose?  Try tuning into God each day.  Your next prayer is only a thought away.
